美國女詩人安．薩克絲敦(Anne Sexton)，The Starry Night(星光夜)






這首詩須佐以梵谷的星夜(The Starry Night)來欣賞。



The town does not exist,

城鎮並不存在，

except where one black-haired tree slips

除了那棵黯黑的樹木滑入

up like a drowned woman into the hot sky.

炙熱的天空，就像是溺水的女人浮散著長髮般。

The town is silent. The night boils with eleven stars.

城鎮是寂靜的，夜晚煮沸了十一顆星星。

Oh starry starry night! This is how

啊！星光閃燿的夜晚，就像這樣

I want to die.

我願死去。



It moves. They are all alive.

夜空移動著，他們都是活著的。

Even the moon bulges in its orange irons

甚至連月亮也腫脹著橘色鐵甲

to push children, like a god, from its eye.

像神一般，用他的目光，推開孩童，

The old unseen serpent swallows up the stars.

隱匿的古老猛蛇，將星星全部吞噬。

Oh starry starry night! This is how

啊！星光閃燿的夜晚，就像這樣

I want to die.

我願死去。



Into that rushing beast of the night,

朝向那頭衝動的暗夜猛獸，

sucked up by that great dragon, to split

遭受那巨龍吸乾所有一切，讓他將我與

from my life with no flag,

我的生命切裂開來，不著痕跡，

no belly,

我沒有了身軀，

no cry.

也不會再哭泣。



這位女詩人的生命，最後仍被憂鬱症征服，留下的是一首首的詩，赤裸呈現弱勢女性最悲最不堪的痛。

家暴侵襲下的疤痕，揮鞭者竟是來自原是自己最愛的人，所有的惡劣情感，會以各種理由，加諸於柔弱的身軀之中。

就如同原本美好的星夜風景，在畫家梵谷(Van Gogh)眼中，在Sexton筆下，竟然變成帶來恐懼扭曲的怪物。
